OCUVISION doctors offer a wide variety of procedures to correct refractive problems (removal of lens wear), have extensive experience in its implementation, starting from 1997 and with the excimer laser equipment and the different techniques that guarantee best results.
Refractive surgery is now used worldwide to correct mayor refractive problems such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism and for which most of these people are forced to use lenses.
Nowadays, the Excimer Laser, which produces ablation procedure (evaporation) of corneal tissue, changes its curvature resulting in remodeling of the corneal surface. Advanced software in minutes corrects the various refractive problems. Besides, it is only necessary dowsers use topical (drops) for the procedure and rehabilitation its almost immediately.
Ocuvisión has access to the VISX Excimer Laser, a team that has proven to be one of the leaders and the best results worldwide.
There are several techniques used for the procedure, but today, the techniques known as PRK (laser area) and LASIK (laser prior to a lifting of a thin corneal flap) are those who have demonstrated better results.
It is previously required a thorough evaluation of the integrity, eye health and refractive problem that allows us to define precisely the technique which will be used for certain patients, including surveying (symmetry of the corneal curvature) and caliper (thickness of the cornea).
PRK
this technique is used in preference to those problems in which the refractive corneal thickness is thiner than nomal (normal lenses is 520 approx.) and/or low myopia. It consists in removing the surface layer of the cornea (epithelium), using the same laser, and subsequent, the treatment is carried out directly on the cornea. After the procedure there are placed contact lenses that are removed in 3 days.
LASIK
This technique consists in making a thin cut of the cornea (corneal flap) thickness of 160 lenses that rises and its placed over the stroma of the cornea, then is necessary to use the laser, once finished, the flap is placed back in its place, which attaches in minutes.
This procedure allows a recovery without having to mediate in contact lenses. This is the technique used in most of the patients.
Intraocular lenses
In people with severe refractive problems such as myopia greater than - 10.0 diopters and hyperopia +5.00 and above, the excimer laser is no longer used for these patients, intraocular lens placement is an alternative. It is previously performed a thorough evaluation of the eye to provide optimal results.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia through a small cut on the cornea, the lens is inserted into the anterior eye segment, type and power of the lens was calculated previously in the evaluation. The cornea is closed with 1 or 2 sutures which are removed within weeks. Visual rehabilitation is very rapid.
