Leave your glasses in the past

OCUVISION laser eye clinic, leader group in eye disease management, has been delivering excellent, top of the line refractive surgery since 1995. Our team of experts is certified by the International Council of Ophthalmology, as well as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.  We offer you the most advanced techniques to leave your glasses behind.

There are several techniques used for the procedure, but today, the techniques known as PRK (laser area) and LASIK (laser prior to a lifting of a thin corneal flap) have demonstrated better results.

A thorough evaluation of eye health and refractive problem allows us to define the best technique for each patient.  Among the special studies we perform to achieve best results possible are: topography (analysis of corneal curvature) and pachimetry (thickness of the cornea).

PRK

This technique is preferred in patients with thinner cornea (normal cornea is 520 approx.) and/or low myopia. It consists in removing the surface layer of the cornea (epithelium), using the same laser, and subsequently, the laser treatment is carried out directly over the cornea. Bandage contact lenses are placed after the procedure, to be removed by our staff 3 days later.

LASIK

In this technique, a thin slice of the cornea (corneal flap) is lifted, then the planned laser treatment is applied. Once finished, the flap is placed back on its place, where it attaches in minutes without stitches.

This procedure allows a quick recovery without having bandage contact lenses. This is the technique used in most of the patients.

Intraocular lenses

In people with severe refractive problems such as myopia greater than - 10.0 diopters and hyperopia +5.00 and above, the excimer laser is no longer safe. For these patients, intraocular lens placement is an alternative. A thorough preoperative evaluation is performed to warrant best results.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, through a small cut on the cornea. A patient-specific folded lens is inserted into the anterior eye segment.  The cornea is closed with 1 or 2 sutures, to be removed within weeks. Visual rehabilitation is very rapid.

Please feel free to drop by our office for a thorough evaluation to determine your best options to see better.

We are 100ft from San Ysidro border crossing.  If walking, follow the sidewalk past the yellow cab station, across the street and you will find us in SIMNSA building.

If by car, take the second exit (before you go up the bridge), you will see our sign, just past the yellow cab station.  Park in the front of the building.
